Generate Test Cases & Test Steps with AI

Generate manual test cases and their test steps from a requirement, then review, edit, and save them in one workflow.

Requirements

For Jira requirements, Katalon AI can also use mapped fields such as Acceptance Criteria. See Use Jira-mapped requirement fields.

Follow the below video walkthrough and the instruction to generate test cases using Katalon AI.

  1. Go to Releases and open the release or sprint that contains your requirement. Select the requirement to open its details.

  2. Select Generate Test Cases in the requirement header.

  3. In Generation Input:

    • Optionally add context to describe what you want to test, and upload supporting documents or images.
    • Choose or confirm the Target folder in Katalon Cloud.
    • Select Generate.

  4. Answer clarification questions if prompted, then wait for Katalon AI to generate the test cases and their steps.

  5. Review the cards in AI Drafts for Review. Open a draft to view its details and steps in the drawer on the right. You can:

    • Edit the test case details and individual steps manually.
    • Select Regenerate Steps if you want AI to generate the steps again, then review the new steps.
    • Select Discard to remove a draft you do not want to keep.

    Always review the generated test cases and steps before saving. AI-generated results may contain errors.

  6. Confirm the save location, then select Save in the drawer to save an individual case, or Save All to save all remaining drafts. Use Discard All if you do not want to keep the remaining drafts.

Saved test cases are linked to the requirement and appear under Linked Test Cases.
